TikTok Shop Has Quickly Become a Material Part of U.S. Online Retail
With recent regulatory developments reducing near-term uncertainty around TikTok’s U.S. operations, spending data offers a clearer view of TikTok Shop’s role in U.S. retail. Recent Consumer Edge US credit and debit card data suggests that role is already meaningful.
TikTok Shop Has Reached Meaningful Scale — and Is Still Growing

Consumer Edge credit and debit card data shows that in Q4 2025, TikTok Shop accounted for approximately 1.5% of total U.S. online retail spend. In the context of an already large and highly consolidated e-commerce market, that represents a meaningful level of penetration.
TikTok Shop has reached this share quickly. Since its late 2023 launch, its portion of online retail spend has increased steadily, and rose by a full 50bps over the past year alone. This pace of growth suggests TikTok Shop is increasingly functioning as a durable transaction channel embedded in consumer behavior.
TikTok Shop Is Reaching Shoppers Across a Wide Range of Major Brands

Note: Only brands above certain total spend thresholds are included in this analysis; spend at each given brand is direct-to-consumer only (company-owned sites and stores, not on TikTok shop)
The breadth of TikTok Shop’s reach becomes even clearer when viewed through cross-shopping behavior. Consumer Edge data shows that in Q4 2025, 21% of SHEIN shoppers also transacted on TikTok Shop, representing the highest level of overlap among the brands analyzed. But the broader takeaway is how widespread double-digit overlap has already become.
Across apparel, beauty, value, and specialty retail, many large and established brands — including Hollister, Victoria’s Secret, Nike, Ulta, H&M, and Zara — fall into a relatively tight 10–14% cross-shopping range. This consistency suggests TikTok Shop’s relevance is not limited to a single category or shopper profile, but extends across a broad portion of the retail landscape.
For many brands, TikTok Shop may not yet be a primary channel by revenue. However, the data shows it is already a channel that a meaningful share of their shoppers are engaging with alongside traditional e-commerce and physical retail.
