Insight Flash: Consumer Edge data reveals overlaps in luxury hotel and fashion brand customers, identifying lucrative brand partnership opportunities

Consumer Edge transaction data empowers companies and private investors with cross-shop analytics, offering valuable insights for cross-industry partnerships. This report uses CE data to explore the growing connection between fashion and luxury hotels, highlighting lucrative brand partnerships.

Using CE data, we identified the luxury hotels most visited by Rag & Bone customers in the 12 months ending February 2, 2025. We then compared this behavior to the rest of the population. This insight comes from the Times More Spend Than Panel metric, which measures how much more luxury hotel customers spend at Rag & Bone compared to the overall US population.

  • The top 10 luxury hotels cross-shopped with Rag & Bone include Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Fairmont Hotel, St. Regis, Waldorf Astoria, Edition, Rosewood, The Luxury Collection, Peninsula Hotels, and Auberge Resorts.
  • Due to its scale, Ritz-Carlton was the most frequently cross-shopped luxury hotel brand, with 4% of Rag & Bone customers making a purchase there over the past year. Further, Rag & Bone made up 6x more of the Ritz-Carlton’s shopper’s wallet compared to the average US cardholder’s wallet. These valuable, cross-shopping customers represent a lucrative opportunity that could be targeted through a brand partnership.
  • The second and third most cross-shopped luxury hotel brands were Four Seasons Hotels and Fairmont Hotels, each attracting approximately 2% of Rag-Bone shoppers.
  • Although only 1.5% of St. Regis customers cross-shop at Rag & Bone, they spend 16 times more of their wallet there than the general US population. These data points show that this small group of cross-shoppers is highly engaged with the Rag & Bone brand compared to the average shopper.

Similarly, CE data uncovered the top luxury hotel brands among Tommy Bahama customers and the spending behavior of those luxury hotel patrons at Tommy Bahama stores over the past year.

  • Ritz-Carlton continued to lead the pack with 2.6% of customers also shopping Tommy Bahama. Their shoppers spent 4 times more of their wallet on the Tommy Bahama brand, which is in-line with many of the other luxury hotel brands.
  • The cross-shopping gap between Ritz-Carlton and the other luxury hotel brands was smaller, with 2% of Fairmont Hotel’s shoppers also engaging with the Tommy Bahama brand and 1% of Waldorf Astoria’s customers.
  • Auberge Resorts’ shoppers are an outlier among the luxury hotel brands. Although only 0.5% of customers cross-shop the Tommy Bahama brand, Auberge Resorts’ customers spend 9.5 times more of their wallet at Tommy Bahama than the general US population. This creates a niche opportunity to target these shoppers through a brand partnership.

Finally, CE data revealed the most popular apparel brands among Ritz-Carlton shoppers over the last 12 months.

  • While the most frequently purchased apparel brand among Ritz-Carlton customers was Old Navy with a 17% cross-shop, Ritz-Carlton’s wallet share with these shoppers was in-line with the average US shopper.
  • Two brands stood out as significant partnership opportunities. First was Anthropologie, with a 13% cross-shop with Ritz-Carlton. Further, Anthropologie shoppers spent 3x more of their wallet at the Ritz-Carlton compared to the average cardholder. The second opportunity is J.Crew. Although only 7% of shoppers are also Ritz-Carlton customers, it led the group with Ritz-Carlton having more 3.25x wallet share among these shoppers than the average US shopper.
